Best Paintball Tips

Many people don’t understand how dangerous paintball guns and other rifles really are when used in the wrong manner. Paintball guns are just as dangerous as real life rifles. While paintball guns do shoot paint pellets and not real bullets, if they are fired incorrectly, they can definitely maim a person for life. Whenever you’re handling a marker or paintball gun, you need to be sure to keep the safety on. By doing this, you can be around to enjoy paintball for years.

Always treat your paintball gun as if it is always loaded every since time you are handling it. The muzzle should always be pointed downward just in case. One of the worst ways to get hurt by a paintball gun is thinking it doesn’t have any bullets in it and firing it by accident. The paintball bullets can travel at 200 mph or more and at close range, they can hurt you or someone else very badly. The speed of the pellets can take your eye out in one shot.

When you aren’t playing on the field, be sure your cap is on the gun. The plug of the barrel is not for decoration. It serves as a safety to remind you to use it every time.

Your gun safety should also always be on when you aren’t in the field. Once again, the barrel of your gun is there to protect you and to stop other bullets from being fired on accident. This is one of the major ways that people get hurt in paintball.

When you are cleaning your gun, treat like it is loaded. Make sure you are wearing eye protection and make sure the chamber is clean and clear. Be sure to release any air in the gun and then continue cleaning it. This will prevent unnecessary injuries.

Always keep your fingers off the trigger when you aren’t shooting your gun. If you are not playing a game of paintball, your finger should not be any where close to the trigger. If you are running across a paintball field, keep your fingers off the mechanism of the trigger as well. If you were to trip, you would be safe with your finger not getting caught up on firing the gun and you would have less risk of breaking a finger.

Never point your gun at anything except a target. Mixing horseplay with a gun will only end in disaster. Your gun can seriously injure a friend if you horseplay with it. You can also hurt yourself this way as well.

If you are not aware of how to take care of your gun, you should have a professional do it for you. Each gun has specific parts that need to be taken apart in a specific way. You could also take a class on gun maintenance to learn the many different aspects of guns.

Paintball does tend to have a less amount of injuries than other sports. Most of the accidents happen when safety measure are not followed. By using your own common sense and not horse playing, you can enjoy the game of paintball.
