About Camp
The camp bungalows at Bastas have a maximum capacity of 100 beds, although our host Sava surprises us with a new bungalow each year. A number of tents are also available for those who prefer them. If you prefer to bring your own tent, no problem – just pick your place! Blankets, pillows and sleeping bags are supplied. All that you are required to bring are your toiletries.
Camp Bastas is situated at Sutjeska National Park, on the right side of the bay of the River Drina. The camp is outfitted with WC, showers and running water. Hot showers are available, however special instructions need to be followed. Shower cabins are connected with boilers, which need to be heated by a fire as there is no electricity. You will always find chopped wood beside the stoves. The water needs to be heated for 10 minutes. If you’re lucky, someone may have already prepared that for you. On the way back from rafting, the camp staff will pre-heat water for you, so that hot water will be available upon your arrival at camp.
As a participant of the River Tara whitewater rafting experience, you will receive three meals per day, unless otherwise specified, which are prepared in the traditional way. Your meals are served in a beautiful, natural setting by the fire. The menu includes lamb, chicken, traditionally prepared potatoes, soups and stews cooked in a kettle, trout, beef or pork barbeque as well as seasonal vegetables.
