About Trip
Transportation is provided in modern buses or air-conditioned mini buses, depending on the group size.
The route to Camp Bastas leads us along the River Ibar, through the Ovcar Banja-Spa, and passing by the towns of Pozega and Uzice and Mount Zlatibor. In the afternoon, a stopover will be made at Mokra Gora and at Mecavnik, a wooden village made by Emir Kusturica, which hosts an annual film festival.
Our trip then leads us over Visegrad to Foca, with a stop for taking photos of the famous Mehmend-Pasha Sokolovic Bridge (“The Bridge on the Drina”)
This historical monument was built between 1571 and 1577 where the road connects Bosnia with Istanbul. The bridge survived several floods in the past. In the flood of 1896, the water level of River Drina was 1,6m above the bridge. The bridge was restored on numerous occasions: in 1664, 1875, 1911, 1939 and during the period from 1949 to 1952. The bridge in Visegrad is one of the oldest preserved bridges in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On the way to Camp Bastas, we get to enjoy stunning landscapes of Mount Zlatibor and Tara, as well as the canyons of Rivers Rzava and Drina.
Arrival at Camp Bastas is estimated to be around 19h.
The camp staff will provide us with all-terrain vehicles for the journey from the camp to Brstanovica, where our rafting adventure will start.
