One of the most popular sports of Costa Rica is fishing. The Caribbean and Pacific Coasts of Costa Rica offer the best deep sea fishing sport in the world as you can find the biggest assortment of fish including Dorado, sails, tuna wahoo, snook and tarpon anytime of the year. People from all over the world not only come to Costa Rica for its splendid beauty and wildlife, but fishing has become one of the best adventure sports to indulge in while being here on vacation.

Speaking of vacations, Ed Mercer the Co Owner of Ventana Del Pacifico, came to Costa Rica in 1989 along with his wife on a vacation. However, he fell in love with this beautiful country and made it his home. Since then, Ed bought and sold acres of stunning properties with his wife and built his real estate empire through perseverance and hard work. Ed enjoyed his real estate business thoroughly and used the profits of his business for the betterment of the society. Ed later had his own company of land development. Today, Ed is lovingly called Mr. Costa Rica owing to his contribution towards this beautiful country. Ed, a caring millionaire contributes a part of his business deal profits towards improving the infrastructure of Costa Rica. Ed is a true humanitarian at heart and has always supported people facing humanitarian issues such as battered housewives and juvenile delinquents. Ed Mercer’s enterprise called Edward R. Mercer Foundation is completely dedicated towards welfare of the society through education and ecological conservation. Ed’s developmental projects are carried out in such a way that the ecological balance is not disturbed. Ed R. Mercer is very particular about his company’s projects and takes outmost care of the environment of the country. Ed also took into consideration the impact the projects would have on the rain forests and the environment in Costa Rica. He also took the initiative of safeguarding the endangered leatherback sea turtles, scarlet macaws and white-faced monkeys which were facing extinction. The sea turtles normally return to their nest at the same location after a year passes by. This makes the sea turtles vulnerable. To overcome this issue, Ed prepared fresh nesting grounds in adjoining villages and the turtles were coached with the help of satellite sensors so they could lay their eggs in safe nesting beaches.

Similar to Ed R. Mercer, vacationers visiting Costa Rica are also mesmerized and being captivated with the beautiful oceanic views of Costa Rica, and to peak it off, adventure sports like fishing make this country a grand destination for travelers.

The sport of fishing sees new people entering into the sport all the time. It’s hard to say what attracts a person to fishing, especially Bass fishing. However, every year, countless people go out and buy their first fishing equipment in hopes of landing a whopper.

If you’re one of these people, or you are thinking about doing something similar, then here is a easy-to-follow Guide about what you really need versus purchasing over hyped fishing tackle you don’t need. Catching Bass is not hard. They’re a predator fish so they’re generally hungry.

Gear to catch Bass doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. Simple set-ups work best for Bass unless you have many years of experience under your belt. I remember a Bass fishing trip a Buddy and I took to a local lake many years ago. The weather was hot that day, even for June. We knocked off around noon and was loading the boat on the trailer when this Old Man and 2 kids came motoring up to the boat ramp.

When they got out, they had a huge stringer of Black Bass. The biggest one was 6 and a half pounds and none were under 2 pounds. I walked over and asked the Old Man what they had used, seeing how my Buddy and I were skunked that morning and we had been using the latest equipment and lures on the Market. The Old Man smiled and showed me his Minnow bucket and said “Why we were using Bass Minnows and Worms”! I also couldn’t keep from noticing their very simple rod and reels. They had out fished a couple local Pro’s with simple bait and rod and reel set-ups!

For starters, if you don’t own a rod and reel, you’ll need one obviously. You don’t need the latest and greatest rod & reel to hit the market. In fact, many a Bass has been hauled out of the water with the likes of Zebco spincast reels. I would recommend heading down to Wal-Mart and finding a good Zebco 33 rod and reel combo. This outfit will serve you well as a beginner.

Level wind reels take quite a bit of experience and practice to use properly. Spinning reels are not as difficult to use, but you do need to know how to properly cast one or you’ll end up with a mess on your hands.

Next on your equipment comes the fishing line. If you bought a rod and reel combo, chances are it came with line already on it. If not, or you want to change the line, then I’d suggest a 10lb line from either Stren or Trilene. There are other manufacturers out there, but these two have been around a long time and manufacture quality fishing line.

Next comes the bait. Again, there’s no use in getting complicated here. Just ignore all the boasting and B.S.ing from the marketing material and you’ll be fine. For live bait fishing, start by selecting hooks in the 1/0 to 3/0 range. Eagle Claw makes excellent live bait hooks. Get a selection of weights and Balsa bobbers and you’re set for live bait fishing. For artificial bait, you only need a few selections. Plastic grubs with curly tails in the colors of forage fish are good choices. I like White, Yellow, Black and Blue or Green. Grab up a silver Johnson spoon and a Rapala swimming minnow and you’ll be set. Make sure you look at the rod to see what range of lure weights it’s rated for. Don’t get lures too heavy for your rod.

Now you have all you need to start fishing for Bass. See, I told you it’s not complicated. Sure, the lure and equipment manufacturers will hate you for not spending hundreds of dollars on their products, but let the next sucker buy all that junk. You just want to go out and have fun catching fish!

Find more fishing post plus deals on all types of fishing reels and rods at DealsOnFishingReels dot com. There you’ll find a big selection of name brand reels and rods at big discounts. There are both new and used fishing reels and fishing rods just waiting to be bought up and taken fishing.

I read a Twitter conversation the other day between a pair of lads chatting about dreaming and one of them highlighted the oddness of having the radio on after the alarm went off but you are not really awake. That really lit a spark with me, as I had some crackers I had when I used to have my clock radio and the News was on and I was in that 2nd stage of sleep, where you are not fully asleep but below that point where you’re just coming out to wakefulness. The radio gets into the ears and what they are hearing gets intermingled into the dreams and it’s fantastic.

Letting the mind to float is a wonderful thing and it’s increasingly hard to do. I used to do it when giving the car a good valet, when there’s not a lot to think about what you’re doing you can’t get better than just summoning a train of thought and following it to see where it goes. I can’t do it these days because my little boy insists on being involved with car washing and doing as much as he can. But shortly, when I return to angling, I will have the time and opportunity to just sit back, monitor the fishing tackle and see the mind disappear into itself.

I really believe it helps to keep the flexible as I used to find myself going down forks and making all kinds of connections, testing my memory and trying to figure out issues. Also it’s an excellent thing for revisiting times of your life, places visited and people met. Of course it can be tricky as well, looking back over one’s career and thinking “where did it all go wrong?” )

Maybe it’s me, but the time I get to be able to allow the mind to drift is getting ever sparse. It’s another reason why halting angling was a daft thing to let happen, especially as the general period for the brain to float when it happens, if it does, is at the wrong end of the sleep timetable, and it keeps one awake which is not on the order form at all.

A healthy imagination is a vital part of the fishing tackle, not only as you need to adapt to the conditions of the day, but also the season of the year. angling in summer is easy, particularly around June when the season has just started and the fish have forgotten about being caught previously and the freshly hatched fish never have been. Later though, angling becomes harder as the fish wise up, the weather changes how the fish feed and where, so you have to be able to adapt.

Changing a variety of baits and tackle for fishing is vital as very often a period of testing is needed before finding the best recipe for what will goad the fish into going after the trap on the hook. And, then when content with the setup it’s a chance to sit back, relax and set the mind go. And don’t push it! It won’t work if you decide the journey or force the pace, all that happens then is that you are left wondering what’s on the tv later.

So, the message is to take your brain along with the fishing tackle since, as well as the sheer pleasure to be had fishing, it’s a plus to be able to keep the brain agile, the memory freshened up and stimulated.

Regardless if you are angling to keep things interesting or angling competitively, one thing holds true and that is certainly that you’ll require the appropriate gear to be a success at angling. The reason that having the proper gear can be so essential is the fact that angling in fresh water isn’t the comparable to angling in salt water.

In freshwater, you are going to fish a river completely different from a lake, and in salt water, you’ll fish from a boat dock or even the coast different than from your boat. If you are deep-sea angling then its a whole other game entirely, since you will have to utilize some specialized gear in combination with more substantial rods, fishing reels, and tackle like depth finders, chart plotters, and in many cases a GPS.

Naturally, if you are the type of sportsman who is really into deep-sea angling then you certainly know what it takes to make a productive deep-sea angling expedition. Nevertheless, in case you are a new comer to this sort of angling then there some things you should know when heading out on a deep-sea fishing boat.

For those who have fished in a boat in shallow water, you might still have used some gear like a GPS or even a chart plotter or maybe even both in combination. You do this to be able to properly co-ordinate your current angling trip so that you do not fish over the same region or over fish an area that could result in little if any catches.

On a deep-sea fishing expedition using a GPS and chart plotter combo will be a lot more important be cause you will not only be able to chart your trip, but you can more easily identify and tag a place which you have fished before in which you have had productive catches.

Several boat captains and especially charter boat captains make excellent usage of this type of gear and information for their clientele, and that is very good for you personally if you are his or her charter. In the event you own your own deep-sea boat, or are looking at getting your own private deep-sea boat then you definitely need a GPS/chart plotter combo to reach your goals.

Using the right fishing combo, such as the Hummingbird 898c SI combo can make a big difference. Get your Hummingbird 898c SI combo here.

If you’re looking for a Winter Sport that the whole family can participate in and have a good time, why not consider Ice Fishing? Each year many people set out to enjoy the sport of ice fishing, and many of these people get their families involved. It’s easy, wholesome fun that everyone can enjoy and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to get started.

But what does a Greenhorn need start ice fishing? There are a lot of choices when choosing fishing gear available today, a Newbie can easily lay out hundreds of their hard earned money on ice fishing gear and never get what they really need.

With this in mind, I sit down and made up this guide that will help you select the basic gear you’ll need to get started in the Sport of Ice Fishing. You’ll be surprised to know that most of this gear can be had for less than a hundred dollars or so. If you want to spend more, then by all means do so, but if you’re just wanting to try it out a few times, then the money invested is minimal.

To begin with, you’ll want to find an ice auger to bore holes in the ice. For Beginners, I’d want a five, possibly even a 6 inch auger for panfish. If you want to go after bigger fish like Bass, Pike and Walleye, then For Beginners, I’d want a 8 or 10 inch ice auger. You have two choices, power augers or the manual augers. Obviously the manual augers are less expensive but need more work to use. You will also need a scoop to get the ice chips from the hole in the ice.

You’ll need a way to get the fish to the surface. For this, you’ll want to use tip ups or a rod and reel. Multiple tip ups allow you to fish many holes while a rod and reel will restrict you to only one hole at a time. Some ice fishermen increase the odds of them bringing home fish by using a combination of tip ups and rod and reels.

Don’t overlook the line you’ll be using to catch fish. Regular fishing line will become brittle and break easily when fishing through a hole in the ice. Look for fishing line that is designed specifically for ice fishing. There are many on the market or you can order it through catalog retailers such as Cabela’s.

For bait, you can buy mealworms, spikes or nightcrawlers for panfish. For bigger fish, you may want to use minnows or artificial lures like tear drop jigs or jigging spoons. It’s best to take a variety since you never know what the fish will want once you get out on the ice.

It would be wise to buy something to sit on. Many seasoned ice fishermen prefer an ordinary five gallon bucket. Few Beginners will bring along lawn chairs out on the ice, but a 5 gallon bucket will also help you haul your gear to and from the ice.

Other miscellaneous things you may need are an ice scoop to get the ice chips out of your hole, a cooler or other item to carry your fish in and maybe a portable heater. Some hardcore fishermen even take sonars to see the structure on the bottom of the lake. Ice fishing is easy to get started in. You can spend as much or little as you want so get out there and grab your gear. Be sure to read up on the regulations and safety rules before heading out.

Ice fishing gear doesn’t have to cost an arm and leg. You can get great deals on reliable ice fishing supplies at DealsOnFishingReels dot com. You can save lots of money by being frugal and selecting your tackle wisely. Ebay is a great source for finding deals on ice equipment including name brand fishing rods and other fishing tackle. Now get out and enjoy a day of ice fishing.

Night time fishing can be a unique experience. Fishing at night is much different than fishing during the day and can lead to more fish. The trouble people have with fishing in the dark is that they cannot see nearly as well as they can during the daylight hours. Many people feel that if they use a flashlight or lantern too close to the water, they will lower the odds of them hooked a fish. Fish and other lake side animals can be frightened by the unusual presence of a light at night.

Unfortunately, if you don’t bring any light down to the water, you may end up hurting yourself. You don’t want to fall over a log or rock while carrying all of your fishing gear. Fishing hooks and knives can easily cut into you if you fall on them. Finding some night vision goggles for sale and buying them before your next night fishing trip could be a good idea. Your ability to see in the dark with your goggles will be fantastic. You’ll be able to leave your flashlights and lanterns at home and the fish will never know your there.

If you don’t want want to get night vision equipment, there are some precautions you will need to take before venturing out. Always make sure that you scout out your night time fishing area during the day. Scouting the area the day of your night time fishing event will give you the chance to look out for any hazards. You’ll find that hazards are easier to spot when you have the full power of the sun illuminating them. Hazards can be moved or at least noted so that you can avoid them on your way down at night.

Another great tip is to get your gear ready in advance. When you get your gear ready during the day, your night time adventure becomes easier and more enjoyable. Get your rods and tackle ready as well as your lighting equipment. Purchase any live bait before it starts to get dark out. You might find that your favorite bait shop is closed after dark.

Why not take a look at some night vision equipment before deciding whether or not to buy it? You can view some great night vision gear at Night Vision USA. This web site also has tactical flashlights that you can use if you decide to go with the low tech method. You’ll find that there are many uses that a pair of night vision goggles can be used for, and not all of them are about fishing.

Trout fishing is 1 of America’s favorite outdoor activities. Now is the time to start out out the remarkable hobby of trout fishing.

1. Get a License: Your state or province has a wildlife management department that regulates fishing. Licenses are generally inexpensive and commonly include facts on guidelines that help support a healthy fish population, which ultimately helps you might have a effective fishing trip.

2. They favor cool lakes and streams in the 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit range. Small trout like bugs and large trout like fish. Trout feed on aquatic invertebrates like adult mayflies, caddis flies, or dragon flies or their larvae.

Fishing is a superb thing to do within your spare time. There are several techniques of fishing, but the one that most of us are familiar with is angling. Angling requires a fishing line which is commonly connected to a fishing rod. A fish hook or an “angle” is then attached to this angling line. A angling reel might or may possibly not be incorporated on the fishing rod. The reel is what you use to retrieve or pay out the line.

3. Pick A Fishing Style: There’s far more than 1 approach to skin a cat…or rather to catch a trout in this case. It’s crucial to select a style so you can purchase gear that matches.

a. Fly Fishing: Like the name implies, synthetic flies are used as bait making use of a unique hover rod and hover line. The object is to forged the bait onto the water, like a genuine skim landing inside a stream or lake, to fool the hungry trout.
b. Spin Fishing: Lures or “spinners” are drawn via the water imitating the motion of little fish of minnows to attract greater trout.
c. Bait Fishing: Live baits like worms are lowered below the water’s surface to cool spot where trout are feeding on insect larvae.

There are several forms of angling. Fishing utilizing flies which is also referred to as Fly fishing is a single type of angling and it has distinct characteristics. When making use of flies as bait in fishing, you employ a special angling collection and rod. The goal in fly angling would be to catch fish by using synthetic flies hooked up for the angle. These flies are forged using the aid of a coast rod and line. You can do your angling using flies as bait in salt normal water or in contemporary water.

4. Get Your Gear: Head down to your nearby fishing shop and speak on the pro about an excellent setup for your selected style. Typical glide fishing rod, reel and line is in the $300 range. You will have to have a selection of flies, depending on your angling conditions and locations. Preferred sorts contain the Elk Caddis Fly, the Parachute Adams Fly, and the Royal Wulff. For spin fishing, rooster tails and spoons are the preferred varieties of bait. Reside Bait fishing favorites are nightcrawlers, crayfish, crickets, and grasshoppers, with nightcrawlers becoming the easiest to uncover at your neighborhood angling shop

5. Basic Technique: If a picture is value a thousand words, then a YouTube.com video is really worth a million. One common misconception is that a lengthy solid is required. Most fish are caught inside 40 feet with the fisherman.

A fish finder is a great device for any fisherman who wants to actually catch fish on the next fishing adventure. There are several different kinds of fish finders to choose from. Obviously, the fish finders with lots of gadgets and extras are going to be more expensive. The choice should be made after considering several things.

A lot of the younger bass will start schooling and feeding on shad just out from the brush lines in some of the creek channels on Lake Livingston in Polk County. These creeks will typically range in depths of about 10 to 20 foot of water. Schooling bass are fun to catch using a silver spoon or a chrome rattletrap. Just throw out into the middle of the school and hang on. These are not going to be big bass but because of the numbers they will be fun.

Plugs

Plugs on the other hand are crank baits. These lures are designed to resemble the body shape of a fish and are made to run underwater. These plugs need to move to make sure that it will catch the attention of fishes and therefore lure them into the hook.

Spoon lures

Spoon lures are flashy fishing lures especially when it catches the light. It also moved in a wobbling or darting direction, this adds its ability to catch attention of the fish.

*Now you know your price range and a general idea of what kind of fish finder you want to use, it is time to consider the extras. Several fish finders come with GPS, which is great for an area you are not familiar with. These are also very handy if you are doing any kind of ocean fishing. Some are even equipped with digital displays making them easier to read.

Spinnerbait

Spinnerbait is likewise a fishing lure used in leisure fishing. This is made of pieces of wire bent in an angle with a hook in the lower end and towing a flashy spinner mechanism. The movement catches fishes’ attention underwater.

These different lures do not need to be used all at the same time. However, having diversity especially if you are fishing in the same location often will help you enjoy your fishing expedition most of the time

The side plates provide guard for the reel against boat rash. Another nice design touch for the Zillion 100SHLA is the extra 89 millimeter long cranking handle and the micro-click adjustable dragster and cast control knob. Since it has a Magforce-Z, casting baits that are at least three eights of an inch deep have never been easier and more efficient. The deep and flat spool design is also another feature of the Daiwa which makes it so efficient to use.

The Daiwa Zillion is really customizable which is why it is the perfect reel to use if you have specific needs. These adjustments are made through the external dials.
